Mark Yashaev: “Only from this suddenness and on"

The Lauren and Mitchell Presser Photography Award for a Young Israeli Artist, 2016
Mark Yashaev (b. 1981) documents spaces that subvert the fundamental concepts of photography: time, the two-dimensional, light and the presence of the object. His twofold work process involves building an installation, photographing it, printing and re-installing. Both dimensions (the photographed and the physical) merge to create one layered photograph, a narrative that constructs and deconstructs forever, resulting in an evasive image.
