Marina Abramovic: Rhythm 0, 1974

Rhythm 0, 1974

Rhythm 0, 1974 is one of Marina Abramovic’s earliest and most challenging works, in which she examines the relationship between performer and audience. Abramovic, in a passive role, let viewers act on her body in any way they chose, using 72 objects placed on a table, including a feather, scalpel, whip and pistol: some give pleasure, others might inflict pain. Initially gentle, the audience gradually became aggressive. The installation reconstructs the table and parts of the original performance.
