Women’s Week at the Museum / Guided tour of the exhibition The Day Is Gone: 100 Years of the New Objectivity (in Hebrew)
This is the first comprehensive exhibition in Israel to mark the centenary of the New Objectivity movement. Emerging in Germany in the 1920s, it offered a sober look at reality during the Weimar Republic. The exhibition features over 100 works by major artists, including George Grosz, Lotte Laserstein, Otto Dix, Anita R.e, and Christian Schad. A unique audio drama takes visitors on a journey through a day in the life of a Berlin resident at that time. The Day is Gone is not just a historical exhibition, but also a mirror of our own times.
Many women artists were an inseparable part of the movement and were active at the time, yet were not included in the historical exhibition dedicated to the movement. This exhibition includes these important creators, and the tour will shine a spotlight on them. Among the artists discussed in the tour: Lotte Laserstein, Anita Rée, Dodo, Marie-Louise von Motesiczky, and Grethe Jürgens.
