I Went Out for Some Fresh Air — A Musical Performance Celebrating Hebrew Songs in Honor of the Opening of Material Imagination: Inflamed Nerve / Israeli Art from the Museum's Collection

A unique performance, specially created for the opening of the third chapter of the permanent exhibitions Material Imagination, connects the art displayed in the galleries with Israeli music.

The exhibition departs from presenting Israeli art as a chronological narrative parallel to the national story and instead offers an alternative model for exploring Israeli art: one based on the four material elements — earth, water, air, and fire — and their manifestations in imagination and creation. Material imagination thrives in the dialogue between the world's materials and ancient images, archetypes that have been imprinted in human consciousness and our awareness.

This specially produced performance is inspired by Boaz Cohen's book Short Stories, Great Records and revisits the spiritual and physical elements of the land: earth, air, water, and fire. It features short stories and Hebrew songs — some original, some translated into Hebrew, and others from the beloved classics of Hebrew music. The program includes songs by Yehonatan Geffen, Arik Einstein, Yitzhak Klepter, Miki Gavrielov, Ha-Halonot Ha-Gvohim, Tamouz, Ha-Chaverim Shel Natasha, Ehud Banai, Meir Ariel, and others.
