Body of Work: Art Meets Anatomy / Tours in the museum with ENT / Sounds of Spaces
A tour focused on tiny details with big impact. Despite their diminutive size, both the structure of the inner ear and miniature rooms are filled with intricate details.
To observe a miniature room, one must peer inside and delve into a scaled-down world—desk lamps, shelves lined with books, decorated cushions—all crafted with meticulous charm. Similarly, the inner ear is a precise, tiny sculptural structure that includes the smallest bones in the human body.
This unique tour, led by experts from different fields, connects the museum's collection to the three smallest bones in the human body. A museum guide will discuss Helena Rubinstein’s miniature room collection, while Dr. Shay Schneider will introduce the auditory ossicles that transmit sound waves to the inner ear. Participants will explore these tiny bones—the malleus, incus, and stapes (each about one millimeter thick)—and view the miniature rooms in a new light.
