A Look at the Collection — Encounters in the Photography Study Room / Hadas Satt

The Tel Aviv Museum of Art marks a decade of the Lauren and Mitchell Presser Photography Award for a Young Israeli Artist.

To celebrate the occasion, the museum invites the public to a unique series of encounters with the photography collection. In each meeting, participants will be invited into the heart of the collection, to spend time among the works held in it, and to meet one leading photographer.

Works from the collection will be presented for a double discussion: on the one hand, the conversation will consider selected works from the history of photography; on the other, it will focus on the invited artist’s own body of work, and on shared sources of inspiration—between their photographs and the photograph presented.

This is a rare opportunity to view works from the collection alongside a discussion of working processes, shared histories, and photographic language.

Hadas Satt is a photographer, writer, and lecturer. She teaches in the Photography and Art departments at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and at the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT).

Her work examines the relations between camera and body, and between photography and memory, creating a photographic syntax built from the intersection of different viewpoints and different times.

Satt graduated with honors from Bezalel’s Photography Department in Jerusalem and completed a master’s degree in art at Bezalel in Tel Aviv. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Israel and internationally, including at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, and RawArt Gallery (Tel Aviv).

Her works are held in museum and private collections, including the Israel Museum collection and the Shpilman Institute for Photography.

Satt has won the Makov Award from the Ashdod Museum of Art, the Young Artist Prize from the Ministry of Culture and Sport, the Elaine and Donald Cooper Prize, and excellence scholarships from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
